God is building momentum and excitement in the youth and family ministries across southern Africa! We have had two events in the last few months that have been a tremendous success.
In December, we had an event called SummerBlast 2010. 170 teens gathered from our churches in South Africa for two days of fun, competition, worship, teaching, and partying.
The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
Beginning a new youth and family ministry is an exhilarating experience. Vision fills your heart as you anticipate what God will do. Important questions arise, “How do I approach this new venture? How do I communicate my vision and expectations? How do I build a program that will work for this particular ministry?” Nehemiah had a similar challenge when he went to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall. Greetings from Johannesburg.
My family and I moved here in April 2010 to work with the Youth and Family ministry. We had been in Chicago for the last fifteen years and were in Minneapolis for the previous five. What an adventure to move across the world!
The purpose for our move was to help develop Youth & Family ministry in the Joburg Church. As we do so, we are going to be blogging about our experiences and sharing materials on occasion on this site.
We just finished the first-ever Youth & Family Conference in Africa. It was incredible. You can see the previous story for details.
We hope this column helps to answer questions and will provide resources for you.
Please feel free to email any topics or questions that you would like discussed.
