On Saturday, July 4, in conjunction with the International Campus Ministry Conference (ICMC) West 2015 conference, 1,000 HOPE worldwide student volunteers traveled by bus to a community south of Phoenix, Arizona. HOPE worldwide’s mission for this event was to beautify five school campuses in the Gila River Indian Community.  

HOPE Youth Corps Baptisms

Exactly one week after this summer’s HOPE Youth Corps (HYC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, two HYC members made the decision to become disciples and get baptized!  Zann and Samuel are both 15 and from the Singapore teen ministry. We are so proud of them and how much they have grown to reach this point. Their experiences on HOPE Youth Corps allowed them to not only change the lives of others but also changed their lives. Northview Teens Give Their Hearts To Bolivia

LaPaz, Bolivia - For the third year in a row, a group of volunteers from the Northview Church, in Roswell, GA, served with the HOPE worldwide Bolivia team for nine days.  The group, comprised of eight teens and four adults, poured themselves out and gave selflessly to work with the poor.  Here is what a couple of the volunteers shared.

HOPEww Nepal Disaster Response Update

Nepal ResponseJune 15, 2015 – HOPE worldwide Nepal is continuing to help ease the suffering of communities impacted by the devastating earthquake that rocked their nation almost two months ago.  

We are happy to report that HOPE worldwide has leveraged the initial donations to obtain and distribute critical relief supplies valued at US$300,000. As a result, 8,600 blankets, 3,300 tarp shelters and approximately 44,000 pounds of food supplies have been distributed to those in need.

4000 Attend Nairobi Church 25th Anniversary Service

Shangilia was a taste of heaven. The Safaricom Indoor Basketball Arena at Kasarani in Nairobi came alive when disciples drawn from the East Africa family of Christ and beyond gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Nairobi Christian Church and indeed the mission work in East Africa. The Nairobi Christian Church was planted in June of 1989 by a few disciples sent from the New York Church of Christ in the United States of America (USA).

Robert Carrillo Named As HOPE worldwide CEO

HOPE worldwide announced today the appointment of Robert Carrillo as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2015.  Robert, who currently serves as the Lead Evangelist of the San Diego Church of Christ, will succeed Randy Jordan, who has served as HOPE worldwide’s CEO since 2008.  Robert was selected as CEO after a succession process of more than one year led by the HOPE worldwide Board of Directors.

HOPEww Texas Flood Situation Report

May 27, 2015 — As severe storms moved through Southeast Texas again late Monday into early Tuesday morning, high water and flooding made many of Houston’s roads impassable, prompting officials to urge residents to stay home.

Torrential rains sent Houston bayous out of their banks overnight, flooding hundreds of homes and stranding thousands of drivers. Houston firefighters report they’ve been called to more than 500 water-related rescues.

Huge Southern Africa Conference

The Southern Africa ICOC leadership conference was a huge success. Held in April, the Johannesburg, South Africa, church hosted disciples and leaders from 12 different countries for a week of Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Over 200 attended the "Ministry Training Academy" for two days of in depth instruction.  

Then over 2300 attended the Sunday worship service. A number of people were welcomed to the church who had been baptised the past week and Paul Smith appointed as an evangelist.

"Upside Down" Musical at the 2016 North American Summit

     Playwrite and evangelist Steve Johnson sent us this update: We are very excited to present the classic musical, Upside Down as part of the 2016 North American Discipleship Summit. Written by Steve Johnson and Sherwin Mackintosh, the musical captures the heart and faith of the First Century Church. There were two international productions of Upside Down in 1987 and 1994.

Rick Cook Transforming New York City

     Last month, architect and NYC Church of Christ member, Rick Cook, was recognized in Manhattan Magazine for his earth-friendly impact on the New York City skyline.  Rick, and his company CookFox Architects, designed Manhattan’s fourth tallest building, the Bank of America Tower, NYC’s first LEED Platinum-Certified commercial skyscraper.

ICOC East Africa Prepares for 25th Anniversary Weekend

     The International Churches of Christ East Africa are excited to celebrate their 25th anniversary from April 30 - May 3, 2015. The theme for the weekend is "Shangilia," a Swahili word that means "celebration."
