Playwrite and evangelist Steve Johnson sent us this update: We are very excited to present the classic musical, Upside Down as part of the 2016 North American Discipleship Summit. Written by Steve Johnson and Sherwin Mackintosh, the musical captures the heart and faith of the First Century Church. There were two international productions of Upside Down in 1987 and 1994.
Last month, architect and NYC Church of Christ member, Rick Cook, was recognized in Manhattan Magazine for his earth-friendly impact on the New York City skyline. Rick, and his company CookFox Architects, designed Manhattan’s fourth tallest building, the Bank of America Tower, NYC’s first LEED Platinum-Certified commercial skyscraper.
The International Churches of Christ East Africa are excited to celebrate their 25th anniversary from April 30 - May 3, 2015. The theme for the weekend is "Shangilia," a Swahili word that means "celebration."
Situation Report #2: April 28, 2015 - As the situation in Nepal becomes bleaker, the HOPE worldwide school remains a hopeful light in Kathmandu. Volunteers at the school have been providing meals and shelter for those that have been displaced.

Situation Report #1 – April, 26, 2015
On Saturday, April 25, 2015, a 7.9 earthquake brought calamity and destruction to a heavily populated area of Nepal impacting six million people. The quake was also felt in nearby China and India, however, Nepal sustained the most damage. The death toll is reported to have reached 2,500. This number may rise as communications are restored in the more remote villages.

April 11, 2015 - On Thursday, April 9, fourteen tornadoes left a path of destruction in the U.S. Midwest. DeKalb County in Northern Illinois suffered the most damage. Citizens in Fairdale and Rochelle took shelter as they had done when tornadoes had threatened before, but this time was different. Residents reported that the 200 mph tornadoes stayed on the ground destroying houses, vehicles, and anything else in their path. The latest report indicated that the tornadoes claimed two lives. Responders are continuing to rescue other trapped or injured individuals.
Diepsloot is one the poorest settlements in South Africa with a population of 138,000 living in an area of approximately 7.5 square miles. Many families live in small 7′ x 10′ shanties constructed of scrap metal, plastic, wood or cardboard. The community is plagued with violence, substance abuse, unemployment and inadequate educational opportunities. These conditions threaten the development of South Africa’s most precious resource – the children.
