India is indeed a very big country. It has thirty five different states and union territories, most of them with a different language, for a total population of 1.2 billion people.
A very unique part of the country is the North East of India. It comprises eight states, nicknamed “Eight Sisters”. The people who live there are ethnically Chinese so they look different from the rest of the population of India.
A lot of students from that part of the country come to the capital, New Delhi, for their studies. Our dream here in Delhi was to reach out and baptize someone from each of the eight states.
Shashikant Sakat (48 yrs old) and his wife Varsha Sakat (40) got baptised on the 27th of April 2010. They have four children, the elder son is 23 yrs. Sakat works with the BMC. Hailing from a traditional Christian background, last one year they were earnestly praying for a true fellowship. In the month of February Ramesh Alhat, a disciple in Mumbai Church, invited him to Church and Sakat started studying the Bible. Eventually he brought his wife to church and she started studying the Bible as well.
The 760 women in the Abidjan, Ivory Coast church made the decision to reach out in a powerful way in May to the lost of their community. They organized a big campaign for the week of May 24-29. All 14 sectors of the church joined in. Every day the sisters assembled in open places on the street across Abidjan. They would begin with a message to encourage the sisters in their boldness and courage. Then they would fan out, share their faith, and study the Bible with women. There would also be on the spot invites to hear one of the women preach (sort of an instant "Woman's Day"). After five days they'd had over 400 Bible studies, along with 1000 others who expressed a desire to study the Bible as well!

The health status of Papua New Guineans is the lowest in the Pacific region.
