Women's Day in Zambia themed "Walking in her Shoes"

Eighty-five women met last month to celebrate Women's Day with the Zambia International Church of Christ in Southern Africa. They celebrated their diversity, shared life stories, enjoyed poems, songs, and dance performances. Guest speaker Zamalinda Xulu, from the Tshwane Region of the Johannesburg Church of Christ shared a thought-provoking message entitled "Walking In Her Shoes", the bible story about the complicated relationship between Penninah and Hannah in 1 Samuel 1

How often do we judge without a clear understanding of what someone else is going through?

One woman, Mubanga Chipimo, shared about her journey of changing to a vegan diet to improve her health while Linda Mwilwa recounted her challenging childhood and her journey to success as a farmer.

Some of those in attendance shared their thoughts about the event:

Agness Kakungu: "It's good to celebrate women's day, to appreciate each other and God for creating us this way".

Tendai Chirwa: What stood out for me is the speaker's vulnerability. Women's Day is a platform that gives us an opportunity to share real-life situations and relate them to the bible."

Ester Sakala: "I loved the main message."

Maggie Shih visited from Los Angeles added: "It was refreshing to attend women's day in a Zambian way, and it was great to connect with other women with focused time."
