Nairobi Church Redefines and Reappoints Bible Talk Leaders

As the year 2007 came to an end, the East regions of Nairobi Christian Church saw the need to strategically plan for year 2008. One of the main resolutions agreed upon in a 3-day planning meeting in late December was the necessity to redefine the role and expectations of bible talk leaders and reappoint those who are both interested and meet the standards. This task was comprehensively undertaken and 104 bible talk leaders were appointed to serve the East Regions with a total membership of 518 disciples. The appointments were done during an ecstatic worship service last Sunday that attracted an attendance of 872 people. Using 1 Tim 6: 11-16, the bible talk leaders were all charged to wholeheartedly serve the lord in that capacity as they play a pivotal role of leadership in church. The following are the agreed upon expectations of a bible talk leader:

·Inspires by example/walk with God ·Holds a bible talk regularly ·  Makes and communicates need-based discipling time classes every week and follows up ·  Ensures that everyone in the bible talk is discipled · Encourages disciples to honor their contribution pledges ·  Spearheads evangelism efforts by ensuring people are studying the word, follow-ups are made, conviction talks are given, counting cost is done effectively etc · He/She is supportive to the church leadership ·  Creates a fruitful and fun ministry · Effectively inspires and empowers the spiritually weak to be strong · Ensures efficient communication flow from church leadership to the other disciples ·  Raises up disciples to leadership positions ·  Is able to identify and meet special needs in the group · Is willing to use his/her resources such as time, money and expertise to advance God’s Kingdom ·  Organizes benevolent projects such as HOPE activities for the bible talk group.

After this grand ceremony on Sunday, there was no doubt that the bible talk leaders are ready to steer the church to new levels of growth in the year 2008. May our good lord continue glorifying Himself!
