San Antonio, Texas: Looking Back on an Exciting 2012

It has been a very exciting year for the Mission Point Christian Church in San Antonio this year!  We have grown in our love for God, as well as our understanding of his grace.

·      Roughly 17,000 attended the World Discipleship Summit in San Antonio in July.  The videos from the conference have been watched by roughly 500,000 on vimeo.  In San Antonio we are very thankful for the way God worked in bringing together disciples from almost 100 nations.

·      In spite of thousands of hours spent organizing the Summit, people have still been making decisions to follow Jesus.  The church is on pace to baptize 50-60 people this year.  Not only that, but in the last 3.5 years, the church has grown from 275 to 425 members.  Attendance has grown from 425 to 750.

·      This last July San Antonio was blessed to send out the College Station mission team.  Other churches in Texas helped with both people and finances.  The team “hit the ground running” in College Station, and are now averaging 80 at church each week.

·      The Mission Point Church won the “2012 Faith Based Volunteer of the Year” award for San Antonio from the United Way this year.  The United Way recognizes faith-based organizations that help the community every year.  We were humbled and excited to receive the award, and we hope to continue helping the poor as a congregation.

·      Campus and singles ministries are rocking.  Campus has grown steadily to over 70 disciples, and the Mission Point singles have grown from 30 to 60 in the last three years.

·      The church was excited this year to purchase a 4.15 acre plot of land near UTSA.  Pray for us as we save up to build a structure there.

All in all it has been an exciting year.  We look forward to what God has in store for us in the months and years to come.  Please be praying for us!
